Abstract

The article presents the interpretation of Physical Symbol System Hypothesis from perspective of philosophy of culture. Special attention was paid to the relationships between relation of semantic symbolization and causal relation. In the light of the Physical Symbol System Hypothesis, the relation of symbolization has some properties that coincide with the properties of causality. First of all, it is considered as transitive, which is incompatible with the semantic notion of symbolization. The relationships of symbolization and causality are then specifically intertwined. This fact can be treated as a form of magical thinking.
