Abstract

The authors study a complicated relationship between democracy (understood in its original meaning as the rule of men) and the rule of law. It turns out that the normative theories of law have too hastily recognized that the relationship between democracy and the rule of law is obvious. The authors point to the political consequences that arise as a result of the clash of normative social theories and political practice.
