Abstract

The article tackles the category of spectrum in the Polish writer – Joanna Bator. Jacques Derrida’s Hauntology , the new proposal for the study of the text, has been used to provide two types of the presence in the novel. The featured types of physical presence (body) and the presence of the spectral one refer to a proposal introduced by Giorgio Agamben. According to the Italian philosopher, spectrum can be expressed in two ways: either as a form of life, or as a form the apparent. In the former case, the spectrum is complementary to life, exempt from coercion improvement. The “larval” spectrum, in turn, does not take the form of the finite so that it must constantly return to the past.
