Evil, Mathematics, and God’s Creative Intention. A Contribution to the Philosophy of Michał Heller
Abstract
The aim of the paper is to analyze the problem of why God in his creative, mathematical, and rational Mind – as Michał heller argues – allows evil to happen in the world. Heller does not give a conclusive answer to the question about the reason of evil in a world based on mathematics. However, one could attempt to reconcile the mathematical structure of the world with the existence of evil – by assuming Blaise Pascal’s theory of value, in which the highest values cannot be measured and they cannot be reduced in any way to lesser values.
