Miasto jako przestrzeń poszukiwania sensu egzystencjalnego człowieka (kilka uwag historyczno-cywilizacyjnych)

Abstract

The metropolis is where the majority of people function today. It affects the personality of the modern individual in multiple ways and in various aspects. This situation is set in a time of globalization that poses a threat to the human being as a person and as a species. Considering the role and importance of the metropolis in the life of the modern individual in the context of what is termed metropolitan future, the paper presents its two dimensions: (1) cultural and civilizational, (2) social and economic. As the complexity of the setting in which the modern person lives abounds in many existential problems, numerous attempts are made to find solutions (e.g. the idea of creative capital).
