Czas przeszły w katastrofizmie. Jacques Callot jako artysta swojej epoki

Abstract

In the catastrophic art the past is usually destroyed, demolished and decayed in a way. The past does not deserve the attention, until the disaster has come. Ante factum all the catastrophic artists are ready to appreciate the past. This rule is very helpful to find out whether one is a catastrophic artist or not. Jacques Callot (1592–1635), who is sometimes treated as a pre-catastrophic artist is a good example. The past in his prints, which is lost as a result of the Les Grandes Misères de la Guerre, is never defragmented. That means that his art depicts the world which is fair, logic and systematic, not a catastrophic one.
